Someone's Turning 50

Yoo hoo, someone's turning the big 5-0 next week and I need to get her card in the mail. I stumbled across a Stampabilities (are they still in business?) stamp last week in my birthday stash and wondered if I could make it work. The problem was that it said..."over 50 and FABULOUS,  so I had to mask off  "over!"

The cake plate idea was cased from a card I saw on someone's blog last summer but I really can't remember where to give her credit (She however, had put a cupcake on hers). It is made with punches--a border punch for the plate, 3/8" circle, and the Paper Shaper bracket punch for the legs. The paper and ink are a deep purple even though they look black in the picture. The Happy Birthday embossing folder was used for the background. Rhinestones and flowers finished it off.

I was curious to see what the card would look like using a patterned background, so I decded to make another one or two for my stash. I think I like it better.

The designer paper is Stampin' Up's Nouveau Chic.
